We are delighted to bring together the most special people to us—from two

very different worlds—to celebrate our once-in-a-lifetime moment together.

with love,

Danny & Karla

Matched by chance.

Bound by adventure.

To whatever end.

With the pandemic forcing the world to isolate, two souls matched with over a thousand miles separating them.

The first conversation between the two of them was over the pictures Karla had of her caving days. Four years later, in a cave chamber at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Danny knelt on one knee and asked Karla to spend the rest of her life with him.

Brought together by their mutual love for exploration, adventure, coffee and ramen, the couple excitedly await the next chapter as husband and wife.

A couple holds hands, standing on a rocky beach under a large cave arch, gazing at the tranquil ocean during sunset. The sky is softly lit in pastel hues.

Portrait
Ima Sumacq Lozano
Ima is as close as family, and she has also been witness to Karla's many phases of life. She is someone Karla can always count on, no matter if there are thousands of miles separating them. Get them together, and they are just a couple of goofy cousins hanging out. She is perhaps the only person Karla will endeavor to sing Black Eyed Peas with at karaoke ever again.

Portrait
Marcela Ponce
Karla's prima-hermana, Marcela, has seen every single phase of Karla — and Karla has felt her love and support at each one. She has always pushed Karla to be more daring and embrace her inner witch. She has always been the person who could stand to watch all the foreign films with Karla, and Karla knows Marce is always there for good coffee and chisme.
BRIDESMAID
Portrait
Mia Broad
Karla met Mia in the first year of their PhD, and she remembers thinking Mia was the coolest person. What Karla didn't know yet was how delightfully unhinged Mia is underneath all that chill, ready to throw a themed party or devour fantasy books. Mia is a phenomenal baker with whom Karla loves discussing baking techniques, and Karla will always be ready to taste her latest creations.

Portrait
Deanna Solis
Karla's maid of honor, Deanna, and Karla crossed paths freshman year at Socorro High. They bonded over their taste in music, having curls, and being romantics at heart. This lovely human even went all the way to Liverpool for plenty of drink and adventure! No matter the distance, Karla knows Deanna will always be in her corner.
MAID OF HONOR
Portrait
Yeji An
Danny's sister, Yeji, has shown Karla how much she doesn't know about being cool. She is the person Karla turns to when she needs to know the latest trends. An ultimate creative being, she can cut, color and style your hair, all while having you sip on one of her delicious cocktails.
BRIDESMAID
Portrait
Yesol Lim
A beautiful and kind soul, Yesol is one of Danny's sisters. Being a couple of foodies, they quickly built a bond gushing over the delicious foods they can find in Chicago. When there is a new coffee shop or bakery Karla is in dire need of trying, Yesol is her partner in pâtisserie crime.
BRIDESMAID
Portrait
Gia Stokes
Karla and Gia met in their first year doing their PhD at NU, and Karla instantly gravitated to her, as she was effortlessly welcoming. Their fantasy-leaning interests have led them to forge a deep friendship, and she is now part of Karla's found family. She is also the first one Karla is calling in case of a fight. Light it up!

Coming in Hot — The Groom's Squad

Portrait
Kenny Allen
Danny's one cousin in the U.S., Kenny and Danny actually grew up distant for the first two decades of their lives. But it's been amazing being reunited, developing a brotherhood as adults, and sharing the joy of having an extended family again. Down-to-earth and genuinely kind, Danny aims to emulate his warmth as a loving family man.

Portrait
Jay Cha
Danny's one friend who can be the funniest and the grumpiest at any given moment. Danny loves Jay for his whole-heartedness in life, which shined brightly when they volunteered together at Korean Culture Camp for over a decade, and which now shines through with his kids as a father and his students as a teacher. Danny admires how loyal Jay can be to his loved ones and how irrationally generous he is to his friends.
GROOMSMAN
Portrait
Brian Harvey
Brian is one of the most creative individuals Danny knows. Danny has learned much from Brian’s artistic taste and journey to produce exceptional work in visual arts. His steadfastness as a leader at work, and now of his family of four, will always be a profound source of wisdom and inspiration. With deep respect, Danny is grateful to have a brother like him to share life with.

Portrait
Michael Crino
On the UIC campus tour, Danny first crossed paths with Michael, and over the years, they have accompanied each other through many trials on the trail of life. His warmth and candor have consistently inspired and encouraged Danny through the darkest of times. He continues to be a source of strength and inappropriate jokes that energize Danny's life.
BEST MAN
Portrait
Kris Guerra
The essential family nurse of the Guerras, who everyone goes to for medical help, and Karla's older brother. Even during the awkward encounter with Karla's family when Danny first visited El Paso as a potential serial killer, Kris still lightened the mood by making jokes about Karla. Danny has grown to appreciate his dedication to work, school, and his loved ones, and looks forward to being brothers-in-law.
GROOMSMAN
Portrait
Kristofer "Kiki" Guerra
The quiet genius of the Guerra family. Kiki has been an amazing, loyal younger brother to Karla, and Danny has much gratitude for his keen ability to be creative and to be there for Karla and the rest of the family. It's always a great time playing board games and watching movies together. Here's to being brothers-in-law soon!
GROOMSMAN
Portrait
Yoonho Lee
Danny's first chingoo in America. Yoonho and Danny roamed the streets of North Side Chicago as knucklehead teenagers, getting into all kinds of trouble. He will always be the childhood pal with whom Danny can unapologetically crack jokes and laugh like hyenas. FUNNY! KILLED IT! OHHHH DANGGGG!!!

FAQ

Everything you need to know

What airport do we fly into?

- Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) - A note about rideshares from Guadalajara airport: Uber, Didi, and other app-based rides now have a designated pickup zone at the airport, so you no longer need to walk off-site to catch one. Look for the free shuttle in the international arrivals area — it runs every five minutes and takes you to the pickup zone in about five to seven minutes. If you'd rather skip the shuttle, you can also hire an official taxi directly at the terminal. From the airport to Colonia Americana, it ranges from $40-$55 USD.

Where should we stay?

- We recommend staying in our favorite neighborhood of Colonia Americana, with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. A great way to explore Guadalajara! Or if you would like to explore some great shopping while visiting, then stay in the area of Zapopan. - Both Airbnb and hotels are fantastic and affordable options.
